Unfortunately, our skin starts to loosen around 35 years of age. And while a guide on how to get rid of pimples may be for those of younger years, many older women are eager to find expensive treatments, both topical and invasive, that will keep them looking younger. While wrinkles are inevitable, it doesn’t mean that you should forgo skincare altogether.
Taking care of your skin, regardless of your age, is highly important. It is our body’s largest organ and our body’s first line of defense so it needs to be well taken care of. A few easy ways to keep your skin looking fresh include:
Avoid Alcohol
Skin care products with alcohol in them only dry out the face. For older skin, this will increase redness as well as the signs of aging. Instead of reaching for cleansers that have alcohol in them, consider purchasing one made from only natural ingredients. These types of products are void of the chemicals occurring in most traditional skin care products, and produce the same results without being so harsh on your skin.
Balance Your Diet
Eating a diet rich in vitamins and minerals found in both veggies and lean proteins can keep your skin looking bright and vibrant. Not only will a good diet keep the health of your skin high, but drinking the water required by a good diet will also keep your skin hydrating – another natural way of keeping it looking great.
Limit Sun Exposure
By now we have all heard about the importance of sunscreen, but very few actually adhere to limiting sun exposure. While we all need some sun here and there, always remember to put on sunscreen each and every day. Most face lotions come with sunscreen already included, and don’t be afraid to wear a hat on a particularly sunny day. Doing so will keep your skin from aging more rapidly and will help you prevent possible skin cancer.
Moisturize Everyday
While there isn’t a skin cream that will have you looking 20 overnight, a good skin moisturizers can go a long way in your older years. Don’t be afraid to spend a few extra dollars on a well-reviewed cream. It will help keep your face hydrated and will give your skin a good mineral boost that will help your face look younger by providing firmness and keep your skin from looking dull.
There is no need to undergo major plastic surgery or to consider botox when in pursuit of better looking skin. Simply taking care of yourself with a balanced diet can do wonders, and can shave a few years off your face without dramatic treatments.
