No need to feel guilty over nostalgia anymore. New research shows that when people speak wistfully of the past, they typically become more optimistic and inspired about the future.

“Nostalgia has been shown to counteract loneliness, boredom and anxiety. It makes people more generous to strangers and more tolerant of outsiders. Couples feel closer and look happier when they’re sharing nostalgic memories. On cold days, or in cold rooms, people use nostalgia to literally feel warmer.”

Masters Runners broke 7 World Records and 13 American Records in a recent USA Masters Outdoors Championships.
One of the oldest competitors, 95-year-old Orville Rogers, broke the old record for the 400-meter race for men 95-99 by 16 seconds, finishing in 2:21. Kathy Martin, 61, ran the 10,000 metres in an incredible 41:10, and adds this record to her impressive list of age-group records

We love this video of a woman who surprised a drum shop when she played the drums but wish people wouldn’t be so surprised that people can do things just because they’re older.

July 14 –  Happy 53rd Birthday to Jane Lynch, an American actress, singer and comedian. She is well known for her role in the hit TV show Glee.

July 15-  Happy 63rd Birthday to Ariana Huffington. She started the Huffington Post and was named by Forbes as one of the Most Influential Women In Media.e

July 16- Another example of how fast time goes by. Phoebe Cates who played Linda in Fast Times at Ridgemont High turned 50 today.

July 17- Happy Birthday to David Hasselhoff, who turned 61. He is an actor, singer, producer, and businessman.

July 17- Donald Sutherland turned 78. His career has spanned more than 5 decades and some of his best roles have come later in life including most recently appearing in the popular Hunger Games series.

July 18- Happy 63rd Birthday to entrepreneur and humanitarian Richard Branson.

July 19- Happy 66th Birthday to Brian May.He is best known for playing guitar in the band Queen and wrote the hit song We Will Rock You. He was 60 when he completed his PhD in astrophysics.
