Happy Birthday to Sliced Bread
85 years ago, Missouri’s Chillicothe Baking Company made history by selling the first wrapped package of sliced bread in history.  Although its the “greatest thing” now, bakeries did not catch on right away, and sales were quite slow at the start. Bakeries were skeptical about the public’s acceptance of pre sliced bread, and didn’t think people would really buy bread that would get stale faster, just so they wouldn’t have to slice it themselves. To their surprise, pre sliced bread went national when Wonder introduced it to the country in 1930.
